Proposal: Reduce Council Member payment.
The current council payment structure is unsustainable and disproportionate to the actual responsibilities required. At present, each council member is receiving $60,000 per year, totaling $180,000 annually—a massive burden on the treasury and ultimately on the community.
At current Karrat valuations, this is the equivalent of millions of Karrat. It’s simply not reasonable for a role that requires minimal work and may never even be needed.
By reducing council payment from $5,000 to $1,000 per month per member, the community will save $144,000 every year—a substantial amount that can be redirected toward growth, development, and long-term sustainability.
Why This Proposal Benefits the Karrat Community
- Eliminates a Massive Unnecessary Expense
The current payouts are far beyond what is justified. Reducing payments ensures we operate responsibly and sustainably. - Saves $144,000 Every Year
This is money that can be reinvested into the ecosystem, community incentives, development, and security of the Karrat project. - Council Role Provides Minimal Ongoing Value
The “security council” role is rarely needed, and even when it is, $15,000/month is excessive. A fair, modest retainer is more than enough.
sustainable, fair, and aligned with the long-term interest of the entire community, not just a few individuals.
This reduction shall become effective immediately upon adoption of the proposal, or at the earliest legally permissible time.
While many KARRAT stakers are not yet able to participate in voting, this functionality is expected to be activated soon.
