Urgent and simple proposal solving one issue to make the whole ecosystem win
Context: Steam Launch is only months away & MPH urgently has to get a lot more Steam wishlists.
- The Wishlists are correlated to the game sales & how many discover the game on Steam.
- Wishlists cannot be faked to get real results, web3 games have fake boosted it & died.
- The people who wishlist have to be interested in the game for it to have meaning.
From Big Game Machine’s 2024 study on where players discover games, gaming news and updates these days: “YouTube (64%), TikTok (36%), Instagram (35%), and Facebook (34%) are the top platforms for game discovery, closely followed by Word of Mouth at 34%”
Short-form content outside X is a proven way for gaining Steam wishlists cost-effectively.
- Short-form content needs no existing audience to go viral from 0 as long as the platform algo likes it. In marketing funnel: after player wishlists a game, they tend to study long-form/streams content before buying.
MPH’s current efforts pre-launch produce around 30 paid videos per month on YT, Twitch & TikTok.
- Paid long-form and streams content have been high quality, expensive & predictable.
- Paid Short-form creators have racked up even 100k views, yet rarely play the game.
- MPH community’s loyal creators are much higher quality with actual in-game content!
So, I am suggesting a proposal: “Steam Wishlist Rescue”
Goal of this proposal: 50X the total volume of MPH video content posted without breaking the bank Reach new audiences with high quality short-form videos across YT, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky & X
Realistic expectation from this proposal: 10 000-12 000 new Steam wishlists in 4 months (around 2 per video) Higher end expectation: if 1/1000 videos catches virality, reach 20 000-30 000 total new Steam wishlists
Length of the proposal: 4 months
Council from the My Pet Hooligan discord involved weekly in the execution of this proposal This 3 person council of responsibles is:
- BAITO leading the group systematically to test, iterate & double down
- Dennis 91 tracking data & informing about it for decisionmaking
- Ser Hopperfield sourcing, evaluating and helping with creators
- each compensated 250 USD of karrat per month for the work
How will we achieve this goal?
- The Council selects 10 experienced MPH content creators from open applications in 1 week after this proposal passes. 2.Each posts 3 times a week, on 6 platforms, 2 accounts per platform minimum. 3.Group chats each week to see what content performs the best & fine-tune systematically.
Incentive per creator: 300 USD per month for posting minimum of 155videos in a month
- around 3 hours of work per week for each creator (using time-saving tools for multiplatform posting & editing)
Bonus structure to incentivize the creators to strive for huge results.
- For each creator reaching 100 000 views on their video, they get equivalent 100 USD in karrat
- For each creator reaching 1million views on their video, they get equivalent of 300 USD in karrat
Main Budget: equivalent of 15 000 USD in karrat: Bonus Structure Budget: equivalent of 5 000 USD in karrat
Note: the above 3 people council can change the creators, number of them or reward amounts with a reason.
- No freeriders, everyone has to be working & motivated for the common goals
- Rewards to creators are paid at the start of each new month from the past month
- Any changes to the system must be done by the 5th day of new month
To learn from our past mistakes: **Combat high token volatility by having a backup budget equivalent of 20 000 USD in karrat **
- The backup budget won’t be used unless the token drops to below 50% of the token price of the proposal’s day 1 post-token transfer.
Total budget for the entire proposal to be transferred upon KIP passing is equivalent of 40 000 USD in karrat.(528255 Karrat at the day of posting)
